UPPAbaby Mesa V2 infant chair

One of the most important items parents purchase for their baby is a car seat. Without a car seat, parents can’t leave the hospital with their newborn or drive their child around town. All car seats are required to meet specific safety standards, but it doesn’t mean they are created equally. Along with safety, comfort is another priority. It’s also nice to have a car seat that’s easy to install.

While there’s no shortage of car seats to choose from, one model has captured our attention. In this UPPAbaby Mesa V2 review we take a closer look at what this car seat has to offer, so you can make an informed decision. Find the latest price on Amazon.

It doesn’t matter if you are a first-time parent or have older children at home, safety is always a priority. Like most car seats, the Mesa V2 uses a five-point safety harness. An anti-round handle increases safety in rear-impact conditions. The Mesa V2 also uses EPP foam in the headrest for additional impact protection. The foam sides keep your child’s head stationary in the event of a side collision.

Safety also extends to the car seat’s placement in your vehicle. If it is not properly secured, it can present dangers. The car seat uses the SMARTSecure System, complete with Latch connectors to ensure an easy and secure installation. A visual indicator on the latching systems turns from red to green when the car seat is properly connected.

Sometimes parents forget about comfort. They are often more concerned about safety features. However, comfort is crucial when you want to keep your child happy in the car.

The Mesa V2 comes with plenty of padding to keep young ones comfortable on long and short trips. We especially like the soft, breathable, moisture-wicking fabric. Your baby will stay cool and comfy.

A car seat is an investment in your child’s safety. Car seats also come at a price. The Mesa V2 is at a higher price point than some other models, but you can use it for years.

Measuring ‎27.5 x 16.95 x 24 inches, the car seat fits easily in small and large vehicles. The rear-facing car seat is compatible with infants and older children. It is rated for use from 4 to 35 lbs. It also easily attaches to Vista and Cruz strollers without the need for adaptors. You can even find the car seat in colors that match the stroller.

Not all car seats come with additional features, but we are surprised at what the Mesa V2 offers. Along with the ability to use the car seat without a base, thanks to the European routing system, it also comes with a retractable sun canopy. You may not need the canopy in a vehicle, but it is helpful when using the car seat with a stroller.

  • One-handed release from a stroller
  • Multiple safety features
  • Washable fabric
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to install

  • The canopy is see-through and may not provide adequate protection from the sun.

Consumer Impressions

The price is a little off-putting to some consumers. However, most appreciate the advanced safety features and the ability to use the car seat with a compatible stroller. Its lightweight is also appreciated. The car seat weighs under 10 lbs. Parents also like how easy the car seat is to install with or without the base. One thing I didn’t realize before having kids of my own, though, is how much stuff babies need—and how complicated it can all get! With so many different options out there for things like car seats, strollers, and cribs, figuring out which ones are right for your family can feel confusing and anxiety-inducing, especially alongside all the other work you have to do to prepare your home for the new arrival.
