It’s not easy traveling with small children but having the right stroller can make your trips a little easier. What should you look for in a travel stroller? Our tests show stroller weight and size are crucial. Comfort is also key. You don’t want your little one to be uncomfortable. When your toddler is unhappy in the stroller, it can ruin your trip.
Two strollers meeting these expectations are from Cybex. The brand is well-known for its line of strollers. Two models we are looking at are the Libelle and Libelle 2. While the strollers are similar, some differences may affect your buying decision. Here’s what we found during our Cybex Libelle vs Libelle 2 comparison.
Cybex Libelle vs Libelle 2 Side by Side:
An aluminum frame helps keep the weight off. Both travel strollers weigh under 14 lbs. When folded, you can easily carry either model in one hand. Polyester fabric on the seat and backrest help ensure durability. The fabric is also washable for easy spill clean-up.
Something we like about both strollers is their design allows them to become complete travel systems. The strollers are compatible with Cybex car seats. You can also attach one of the manufacturer’s infant seats, allowing you to use the stroller from birth up to 55 lbs.
The primary difference in the strollers’ design is the various color options you get with the Libelle 2. Being able to choose from different fabric colors is a nice option, especially for parents that like to color-coordinate their little one’s gear.
Best in Design: Cybex Libelle 2
Both models come with the standard safety features you expect on a stroller. A five-point safety harness prevents active toddlers from wiggling free. Locking wheels prevent the stroller from rolling away, even on inclines. We like how easy the wheels are to lock with just a press of the lever with your foot.
Best in Safety: A Tie
Toddlers aren’t shy about letting their parents know when they are uncomfortable. It’s not an issue with these travel strollers. Both models have reclining seats, ideal for when your little one wants to take a nap. We like how easy the seats are to recline. It’s a simple press of the button.
Another feature we like is the adjustable leg rest. It provides plenty of support for growing toddlers and only takes one hand to adjust the leg rest into the ideal position. It can also allow you to use the stroller a little longer if your toddler is at the higher end of the height spectrum. A large, retractable sun canopy keeps toddlers comfortable in bright light.
The Libelle 2 has mesh accents that allow for cooling airflow. It’s a nice feature and adds to your child’s comfort on hot days.

Ease of Use
We are surprised at how easy the strollers are to use. You can fold either model down with one hand. When folded, the strollers fit in most overhead luggage bins. It pops open with a press of a button, and you are ready to navigate busy airports.
The front suspension on the wheels provides for a smoother ride. The front wheels also swivel so you can make corners with ease. The wheel design is a little different on the Libelle 2, but our tests indicate it does not affect the strollers’ performance.

Cybex Libelle Review
- Lightweight and compact
- Easy to fold down with one hand
- Front-wheel suspension
- Adjustable leg rest
- Reclining seat
- The harness straps may not be placed properly for smaller children. They can slide down to an awkward position in the seat
Weighing a little under 14 lbs. and measuring 13 x 8 x 19 inches when folded, the Libelle is a compact and lightweight travel stroller. It’s a breeze to carry one-handed, something every parent can appreciate.
The plastic wheels glide smoothly over most types of terrain. Front-wheel suspension provides a smoother ride for your toddler. While the plastic wheels can chip if you frequently go over rocky terrain, we find they are sturdy enough for most types of travel.
Polyester fabric covers the seat and backrest. The fabric is machine washable, so spills aren’t an issue. While the stroller is compatible with toddlers six months up to 55 lbs., you can add an infant or car seat. The accessories are extra, including the attachments. You can also add on a bumper bar, travel bag, or rain cover.
Cybex Libelle 2 Review
- Compatible with airplane carry-on regulations
- Easy to use
- Small storage basket
- Reclining seat
- Large sun canopy
- The seat does not fully recline and may be uncomfortable for some toddlers
It’s impossible to miss the similarities between the two Cybex strollers. The Libelle 2 is also compact and lightweight with the same dimensions as the original model.
A one-handed folding design helps ensure easy use. The reclining seat also only takes one hand to adjust its position. We like how almost every aspect of the stroller is designed with ease of use in mind.
Like the original stroller, you can add accessories including an infant and car seat. It does cost extra, but might be worth it for parents that are looking for a travel stroller than can go from birth to 55 lbs.
We do like the new wheel design on the Libelle 2. It gives the travel stroller a slightly sporty look. You also have more seat color options to choose from. Even though a different seat color doesn’t affect performance it’s always nice to have options.
