Child Comfort

The seat of the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 has a impressive amount of versatility. It can be rotated either front- or parent-facing, and has 5 recline levels from fully flat to fully upright. That makes it easy to find a comfortable position for your toddler. It also has a roomy footrest area and a cushy, soft seat that doesn’t need extra padding to keep your kid comfy.

UPPAbaby brings the same high construction and material quality to the canopy of the Cruz V2. It’s extendable with a zip-open panel, covering nearly the entire seat when it’s fully extended to provide UPF 50+ protection from the sun. The two peek-a-boo windows provide excellent ventilation in the seat and make it simple for parents to check in on their kid without stopping.

As a toddler seat the Cruz V2 is excellent, and the included seat can be used for kids as young as 3 months. The frame can be used for smaller babies and newborns, though not right out of the box—you’ll need to buy the bassinet attachment. On the plus side, the Cruz V2 also works with the MESA car seat to become a full travel system (though you’ll need to buy that separately, too).

Maneuverability

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 uses a rear suspension system that ensures a smooth ride on most surfaces. The wheels are larger than on most strollers, too, and can handle uneven terrain like grass, gravel, or snow. (>>>Find more stroller options for winter) It’s easiest to maneuver on paved surfaces and has a relatively tight turning radius, good news for use in stores and other crowded spaces. Turning the Cruz V2 is more difficult on uneven surfaces, and this is when you’ll feel the stroller’s weight the most.

Pros

  • Reversible, well-padded seat with 5 recline positions
  • One-hand fold with automatic lock
  • Multi-terrain wheels with suspension for a smooth ride
  • Harness and brakes are effective and easy to use
  • Extendable canopy provides excellent sun protection
  • Large under-seat storage with 30lbs capacity
  • Compatible with MESA infant car seat

Cons

  • Requires accessories to use safely with infants
  • A bit heavy and difficult to carry by hand

Folding

Collapsing the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is easy. You can trigger the frame lock release with one hand to fold it down to a self-standing, compact package. While it doesn’t have a carrying strap for transportation, it’s compact enough to fit easily in a car trunk, or slide under furniture at home when you’re not using it.

While you will need both hands to unfold and set up the Cruz V2, it’s still a very intuitive and fast process. Once it’s fully open the frame lock automatically clicks into place, so there’s no worry of it collapsing on you because you’re putting it together in a hurry.

Safety Features

The color-coded brakes on the Cruz V2 have an easy red/green system so you can see if the wheels are locked at a glance. It’s also simple to toggle the brakes with your foot, even if you’re wearing sandals or heels.

There are ample safety features in the seat, as well. It uses a 5-point harness system with a no-rethread shoulder height adjustment and a buckle that’s tight enough most kids can’t unlatch themselves. The front bar across the seat helps keep kids where they should be, and gives them a convenient hand hold during their ride.

Storage

UPPAbaby Cruz V2

The roomy under-seat storage has plenty of space for your diaper bag, your kid’s toys, and plenty more. The open mesh sides make it easy to see into the storage bin and grab the things you need. There are also smaller pockets on the parent side of the storage area, great for keeping things like your keys, wallet, or water bottle close at hand.

UPPAbaby Cruz V2 Review In Summary

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 has a relatively high price point, and you’ll need to leave room in your budget for a bassinet or car seat if you want to use it for an infant younger than 3 months. However, its build quality and features are worth the investment for many families. It’s especially great for city use, with excellent maneuverability on paved surfaces and a compact fold that will fit in even the smallest apartments. We hope this review has helped you decide if it’s the best choice for your family! (>>> Find on Amazon)
